The University of Evansville is Lincoln/Bellemeade’s neighbor to the north. Lincoln Avenue is its northern border with two sections of the U.E.’s campus extending below Lincoln into the neighborhood. Nearby major thoroughfares include US-41 to the west and Route 66/62 West Lloyd Expressway to the north. To the east is I-164, a north-south highway that curves to the west near the Ohio River and extends into Downtown.
Neighborhood boundaries include South Weinbach on the east, Bellemeade Avenue on the south, and South Bennighof Avenue on the west. The neighborhood is comprised of homes built mostly in the 1920s through 1930s. The charming home styles coupled with mature trees and landscaping make this an ideal area for walking and bike riding.
A nearby park is Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve to the northeast, which features an interpretive center, gift shop, nearly six miles of walking trails, and 200 acres of forest. Angel Mounds State Historic Site is southeast of Lincoln/Bellemeade on the Ohio River and is considered one of the best preserved prehistoric Native American sites in the United States.
Nearby shopping includes Weinbach Shopping Center, 1 North Weinbach Avenue, which includes Wesselman’s Supermarket and Eastland Mall to the northeast. Shopping and restaurants located close by are on Lincoln Avenue, and at the intersection of Washington and South Weinbach Avenues.
