This is a very rural area where corn fields are a common sight and homes are located on country lanes with trees and lush landscaping. The area of the neighborhood to the southeast is less rural and more commercial. Logan Elementary School is located within the neighborhood.
Garfield Park has been providing a place for the residents of Topeka to enjoy themselves for over 100 years. With 32 acres, it is a nice-sized park with a lot of offer. It has all the things that are expected of a park — a playground, basketball courts, a seasonal swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball fields, and lots of open and wooded space. It also has a community center. In the summer, it is the scene of some of the music series concerts. There is no seating, however, and concert goers bring their own chairs or blankets. The park is just a short drive from the neighborhood.

Among the things they offer are sports activities for all ages, creative opportunities with arts and crafts, and after-school activities for children. There is a computer lab with six computers that is open to the public and free to use. A wide variety of classes for both children and adults are offered at the Garfield Community Center. It is a great asset to this neighborhood and the nearby areas.
