Deer Park Neighborhood

The neighborhood of Deer Park is located to the southeast of downtown Louisville. It consists of older ranch, colonial, and bungalow-style homes. The northern area of Deer Park has higher-end residences. Home listings in the community range from around $124,000 to about $470,000.

To the northwest and bordering Deer Park is Cherokee Park. The main feature of this park is the 2.4-mile scenic loop. A yellow line on the road divides regular vehicular traffic from hiking and biking traffic. The loop is hilly, with both open meadows and woodlands. Also bordering Deer Park and adjoining Cherokee Park to the north is the Cherokee Golf Course.

On the southern end of Cherokee Park is the campus of the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Deer Park families have access to both public and private schools nearby. They include Assumption High School, Atherton High School, and the De Paul School.

Deer Park is conveniently located near the Louisville International Airport and Churchill Downs, home to the Kentucky Derby. The attractions of downtown Louisville are just a short drive from the community.

The National Historic Landmark of Locust Grove contains a Georgian Mansion and was the home of Revolutionary War hero General George Rogers Clark. General Clark was also credited with founding the city of Louisville.

Another attraction on the list of National Historic Places is the Jim Beam American Outpost and Distillery Museum. Here a visitor can view family history, photos, and memorabilia. The museum has a tasting room and a gift shop where visitors can buy its famous bourbon candy.
