Hallmark Neighborhood

With its well-preserved historic homes and established landscapes, the community of Hallmark offers residents a refreshing trip back in time. Homes in the western quadrant of the community have the added benefit of overlooking the majestic Ohio River.

Home designs in Hallmark tend toward traditional-style houses built from the early 1900s through the 1940s, American Four Square-style homes built in the early 1900s, and craftsman-style houses constructed at the beginning of the century. Hallmark encompasses zip code 40210. The community is bounded by Algonquin Parkway to the north, Plantation Drive to the east, Wingfield Lane to the south, and Cane Run Road and the Ohio River to the west. The area is surrounded by major roadways. Interstate 64 lies to the north; Interstate 65 sits to the east, and the Interstate 264 runs along the southern edge of the community.

Of the many appealing aspects of living in Hallmark is its proximity to the Ohio River. To the northwest of the neighborhood is Shawnee Park, which sits along the banks of the river. This 284-acre public park offers a wide variety of amenities, including a state-of-the-art outdoor athletic complex, a number of football, soccer and baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, picnic areas, a pond, playground, and biking and hiking trails. The site is also home to the 18-hole Shawnee Golf Course. This scenic course has a complete driving range and contains well-established trees and fairly level greens.

For the education-minded, the University of Louisville lies to the southeast of the neighborhood. This state-supported research university has over 22,000 students and offers 170 fields of study.
