Plantation Neighborhood

Plantation is a city roughly 12 miles east of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, roughly 20 minutes away by car. This community is north of Westport Road/State Highway 1447, consisting of Blossom Lane, Savannah Road, Herritage Way, Cottonwood Drive, and several other small streets. Plantation is situated within Jefferson County, in the 40242 zip code.

The northern and eastern portions of Plantation are largely residential, but the southwestern portion between Bayberry Place and Westport Road is a commercial area that offers a garden center, dance studio, and animal clinic, among other options. The residential portions of the city consist primarily of modest single-family homes on sizable, shaded lots.

The Plantation community is situated immediately south of the Standard Country Club. For residents who don’t mind paying dues, this family-oriented golf club is easily within walking distance of the community. In addition to an appealing 18-hole course, this club also offers an olympic-sized swimming pool, spacious clubhouse with dining options, fishing lake, and tennis courts. It is known for providing programs and activities to keep the kids involved and entertained while parents are free to dine or tee off.

Another attraction within a short drive of the city of Plantation is the E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park. One of 52 state parks in Kentucky, this large park on Frey’s Hills Road offers a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Extreme sports enthusiasts will appreciate the BMX track, and from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, kids flock here to cool off in the huge, outdoor swimming pool. Other amenities offered here include a fitness trail, activities center with indoor gymnasium, tennis courts, and recreation programs.

When Plantation residents are yearning for more cultural attractions, entertaining, dining, and shopping, they are a mere 20 minutes from the heart of downtown Louisville, where there’s no shortage of things to see and do.
