Shelby Park Neighborhood

Named after Kentucky’s first governor, Isaac Shelby, and a centralized park, Shelby Park is a small residential neighborhood that is home to just over 3,200 people. Shelby Park’s boundaries are Interstate 65, the CSX Railroad track and Kentucky Street.

The centrally-located Shelby Park recreation area provides playgrounds, picnic areas and lots of room for outdoor activities like Frisbee or catch with the pooch. Nearby educational facilities like Spalding University and the University of Louisville make receiving a quality post-secondary education easily-accessible to Shelby Park residents.

Those looking for a place to grab a bite to eat will find national grab-and-go chains like KFC, McDonald’s, Burger King, Papa John’s Pizza and White Castle nearby, while those looking to sit down and relax while enjoying a meal will find favorites like Old Spaghetti House, Molly Malone’s, Joe’s Crab Shack, Jack Fry’s and Bisto 301 just a few minutes’ drive away.

Neighborhood staples like Save-a-Lot food market, Walgreen’s Pharmacy, Meijer and Chase Bank make living convenient for Shelby Park residents, while department stores like Kohl’s, Macy’s, WalMart and Target make shopping fun. All are located within ten minutes or less of Shelby Park by car, but public transportation is readily available.
