Smoketown Neighborhood

Smoketown is a neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, minutes southeast of the heart of the downtown area. This community is bounded by U.S. Highway 150/East Broadway on the north, East Kentucky Street on the south, South Floyd Street on the west, and the railroad tracks on the east. The zip code for Smoketown is 40203, and it is within Jefferson County.

The Smoketown neighborhood is surrounded by a variety of higher education options. Within walking distance to the north and west is Spalding University. A short drive to the south are the University of Louisville campus and Bellarmine College.

Being situated in the downtown area means that there is no shortage of things to see and do near Smoketown. For sports fans, the Louisville Slugger Field, home of the city’s minor league baseball team, is situated within walking distance to the north. The Louisville Slugger Museum can also be found here. To the south is the Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, which hosts football games and other sporting events for the U of L.

Other amenities in the area include several medical centers, parks, and cultural attractions, like the Louisville Palace Theatre. Within a few miles to the south is the Louisville Zoo, a popular destination for families in the city. In addition to regular exhibitions, the zoo also offers educational programs and events. To the west of the zoo is the Audibon Country Club. This private golf club offers a nice 18-hole, par 72 course, as well as other amenities.

Finally, within five miles directly south of Smoketown, just south of I-264, is the Louisville International Airport. This local airport provides convenient flight options for frequent travelers.
