Springlee Neighborhood

Springlee is a neighborhood in St. Matthews, Kentucky, an eastern suburb of Louisville. This primarily residential neighborhood spans about .1 square mile and is roughly bounded by Plymouth Road on the north, Kresge Way on the south, Breckenridge Lane on the west, and Browns Lane on the east. Springlee is in the 40207 zip code area, within Jefferson County.

There are several schools within walking distance of Springlee, making this a popular neighborhood for families. Schools within walking distance of Springlee include St. Matthews Elementary School on Browns Lane, Waggener Traditional High School on South Hubbards Lane, and Friends School on Breckenridge Lane.

Springlee is a very conveniently located neighborhood, just northwest of where Interstates 64 and 264 intersect. It is immediately north of two medical centers (Baptist Hospital – East and Norton Suburban Hospital), which provide easy access to health care and create employment options for area residents.

For local shopping, Springlee residents are roughly one mile west of two popular area retail centers – the St. Matthews Mall and the Oxmoor Center – both situated along nearby Highway 60.

To the southwest of Springlee, just on the other side of I-64, are several additional attractions, including Bowman Field. More affluent residents may belong to the adjacent Big Spring Country Club. Adjacent to the airfield on the west is Seneca Park. This city park on Pee Wee Reese Road offers a public, 18-hole course that is widely considered one of the best in the Louisville area. Other amenities here include tennis and basketball courts, ball fields, playground, volleyball court, and picnic area. There are also a variety of trails here for walking, jogging, biking, and horseback riding.
