Strathmoor Village Neighborhood

The City of Strathmoor Village is situated roughly six miles southwest of downtown Louisville, Kentucky. It is bounded on the north by Taylorsville Road/State Highway 155 and on the south by Bardstown Road and U.S. Highways 31E and 150. On the west, the boundaries are roughly created by Tennyson and Lowell Avenues. The eastern boundaries are less conspicuous, but might be considered Byron Avenue and Tyler Lane. Strathmoor Village encompasses the 40205 zip code area and is part of Jefferson County. Area communities include Seneca Gardens, Kingsley, Strathmoor Manor, and Highlands Douglas.

Strathmoor Village encompasses about .1 square miles and, as of 2007, had 640 residents. The city is primarily residential and is characterized by nice sidewalks lined with mature trees. By Kentucky standards, this neighborhood can be considered quite affluent. In 2009, the median household income in Strathmoor Village was $72,500, over $30,000 higher than the state average of $40,072 for the same year.

Residents of Strathmoor Village enjoy proximity to a variety of area amenities. Within walking distance north of the community is Seneca Park, a popular destination for outdoor recreation. Among the many amenities here are playing fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, over three miles of cross country trails, horseback riding, picnic areas, and a playground. Seneca Park also hosts a public 18-hole golf course that is popular among area golfers. A private golf course can also be found in the area at Big Spring Country Club, just on the other side of Seneca Park and Bowman Field. Many of the affluent residents of Strathmoor Village can surely afford the membership dues to belong to this prestigious private club.

Residents of Strathmoor Village are also within a short drive of a variety of health care centers and higher education options, including the University of Louisville campus. Other attractions in the area include the Louisville Zoo and the Louisville International Airport.
