Woodlawn Park Neighborhood

Once home to the famous Woodlawn Park Race Course, Louisville’s Woodlawn Park neighborhood celebrates a rich history. Woodlawn Race Course opened in 1859 and closed after the Civil War. The exquisite Woodlawn Vase, designed by Tiffany’s, still plays a role in thoroughbred horse racing. A smaller replica of the vase is awarded each year to the winner of the Preakness.

Many properties in Woodlawn Park still reflect the glory days of the Woodlawn Park Race Course and Woodlawn Park Association founded in 1858. Some of the wealth generated by the National Racing Association is evident in the few remaining expansive southern properties.

Woodlawn Park residents are very well educated with most locals working as professionals. Executives, managers and technicians make up part of the workforce in Woodlawn Park, while some residents work in sales or manufacturing.

Woodlawn Park’s housing market and population shares a common trait. Both reflect diversity. A wide array of home values and property types exists in this neighborhood. Ages cover a wide range, with many young professionals feeling very much at home in Woodlawn Park.

Woodlawn Park is within the 40207 zip code. Interstate 264 (Henry Watterson Expressway), Westport Road and Brownsboro Road make up three sides of the neighborhood’s borders. Surrounding communities include Druid Hills, Beechwood Village, Bellewood, Richlawn, Crossgate, and St. Matthews.

The Woodlawn Park neighborhood is not only safe, it is also quite walkable, as well as pet and family friendly. With major arterials bordering the area, residents have easy access to the most efficient routes for commuting.
