West Lake Forest Neighborhood

West Lake Forest. a community located within the city of New Orleans, Louisianna, is bordered by Interstate 10, Reed Boulevard and Dwyer Road. The community’s mixture of apartments, condominiums, and single-family homes provides residents with an abundance of housing choices. West Lake Forest lies approximately one mile from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain.

Residents are within walking distance of two parks; Wimbledon Playground offers an open area and a playground; Curley Park features a basketball court and soccer field.

The Audubon Louisiana Nature Center is just one mile from West Lake Forest. At this 86-acre educational facility dedicated to preserving nature and the environment, visitors will find a species survival center, a zoo and an aquarium. A planetarium provides light shows, and visitors can walk the trails winding through bayous and swamps or visit the butterfly garden. Contained within the nature center is the Joe W. Brown Memorial Park, named for the Louisiana philanthropist.

The neighborhood is near several private and public schools. Students can attend Reed Elementary School, Edward Livington Middle School and Marion Abramson High School. Private institutions include Lake Forest Montessori Magnet School, New Orleans Charter Science and Math Academy, and Abramson Science and Technology Charter School.

Residents are only minutes away from popular New Orleans attractions such as the French Quarter, the Garden District and art and history museums. New Orleans is known for its history, its food and, of course, Mardi Gras.
