Cambridge Highlands Neighborhood

With its quaint, tree-lined streets and houses overlooking Fresh Pond, Cambridge Highlands is one of the city’s scenic neighborhoods. This desirable community encompasses the best of rural and city life, offering residents water views, shops, restaurants, and direct access to main thoroughfares such as Concord Boulevard.

Most of the area is residential, although Fresh Pond Shopping Center, which lies along the community’s eastern border, features a variety of shops and restaurants.

Of the many appealing aspects of Cambridge Highlands is the Fresh Pond Recreation Area, located on Huron Avenue. This tranquil setting, which spans Concord Avenue in the eastern quadrant of the community, invites visitors to stroll along the paths near the pond and admire the birds and other four-legged creatures that call the area home. To the west lies Fresh Pond Golf Course, which also overlooks Fresh Pond. This scenic, 9-hole public golf course has a picturesque, naturalized layout designed to challenge individuals of all ability levels. It has defined hazards, including waterways.

Cambridge Highlands constitutes just one of the many neighborhoods within Cambridge, which has been dubbed the City of Squares. The area is composed of square commercial districts, which are defined by major street intersections, and neighborhoods branch out from each intersection. Cambridge is home to two prestigious universities, Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
