Suffolk County, Massachusetts

The cities contained in Suffolk County, Massachusetts are some of the most historically significant locations in the country: Boston, Winthrop, Chelsea, and Revere. Boston, the largest city in Suffolk County, was settled in 1630 and contains such historic sites as Faneuil Hall. Boston’s role in history includes such important events as the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Famous American Revolution battles included the Siege of Boston and the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Suffolk County was founded in 1643. Winthrop and Revere date back to 1630 and Chelsea was settled in 1624. Suffolk County contains some of the oldest communities in the US, and the historic sites located in this area draw thousands of tourists every year. National protected areas in Suffolk County include Boston National Historical Park, a collection of eight important American Revolution sites. Other sites include the Boston African American National Historic Site and the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area, a collection of 34 islands that contain historic sites and Boston Light, one of the oldest working lighthouses in the US.

College students living in Suffolk County apartments have several school choices, including Boston College, Cambridge University, Harvard University, and MIT.

Located on the harbor, Suffolk County residents enjoy swimming, boating, and fishing. Revere Beach is a popular destination during the summer. It is the oldest public beach in the country, founded in 1895. In addition to swimming, it is home to the annual New England Sand Sculpting Festival and the Revere Beach Farmers Market.

Winters in New England are also ideal for outdoor recreation, with plenty of nearby ski resorts, ice skating, snowboarding, and sledding opportunities not far from your Suffolk County apartment.
