Schofield Barracks stretches across 17,725 acres in the Wahiawa District on the island of Oahu. It is situated near Lake Wilson across from the town of Wahiawa. Schofield Barracks was established in 1908 and has been home to the 25th Infantry Division (“Tropic Lightning”) since 1941. This distinguished division consists of airborne, light infantry, Stryker, and aviation units. Schofield Barracks is about 20 miles from downtown Honolulu, just off I-H2. The base and the town of Wahiawa are located on a plateau between two volcanic mountains.
