The Douglas Army Reserve Center is located on a small section – roughly 50 acres — of Fort Douglas, a US National Historic Landmark District listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. The fort dates back to 1862 and is located just east of Salt Lake City. The fort was officially closed in 1991 and all except 64 acres of the fort were turned over to the University of Utah. The Fort Douglas Military Museum is also located on the site.
