Fort Pickett was established as a training site in 1941, just ahead of WWII in Blackstone, Virginia, a tiny town in rural Virginia that offered plenty of land and water to train more than one infantry division at once. Today, Fort Pickett is the headquarters for the Virginia National Guard and features several training facilities for recruits, including a Shoothouse, a POW Camp, Life Fire Range, and Urban Assault.
