Bottineau, Minneapolis Neighborhood

Bottineau is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is part of the 55413 and 55418 zip codes and located south of Lowry Avenue, west of University Avenue, north of 17th Avenue, and to the east of the Mississippi River.

In addition to having some incredible river frontage along the Mississippi River providing excellent views and recreation opportunities, Bottineau has a number of historic buildings with the large majority of the homes here built in the early 1900s. Most of these homes are lived in by the actual owners. There is, however, a healthy mix of dwelling types providing living access to residents from a variety of backgrounds and income levels.

Many area youth in Bottineau take advantage of the large baseball fields located in the center of the neighborhood at Bottineau Field. There is also a recreation center here with a variety of amenities, including meeting rooms, a gymnasium, and even a computer lab with Internet access that gets pretty regular use.

Bottineau is filled with a number of small businesses, diners, coffee shops, and salons that are laced throughout the residential neighborhood. These small shops provide a down town feel without bringing in the traffic of the big city that is right next door. A lot of industry surrounds the neighborhood along the water and near the train tracks to the northeast, providing many area jobs.

A popular destination for area families is the Jim Lupient Water Park off Johnson Avenue. This modest water park provides a great place for families to wear out their children, while providing them with a fun place to cool off in the warmer months. The park has several slides and water options, as well as places for parents to sit down and relax while their children play.
