Cedar-Riverside Neighborhood
Cedar Riverside is a large neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is part of the 55454 and 55455 zip codes. It is located along the Mississippi river on the east and north, Interstate 35W to the north and west, and Franklin Avenue to the south. Homes in the area are, for the most part, older, with the majority of the homes built between 1950-1980 and the largest building boom in the 1970s.
The best part about Cedar Riverside is the access. The neighborhood is perfectly situated for quick access to some of the best attractions the twin cities have to offer. With major roadways surrounding the neighborhood, there are many different travel options to get residents throughout the region and beyond.
One of the biggest and most known attractions in the area is the University of Minnesota. This large university is located along the Mississippi River on the east side of the river. The campus not only has excellent water frontage, but has a pretty impressive education program as well. Students come from around the world to attend class at the school. The school is also known for their sports program. Residents from around the state come out on game day to support their team, many of whom are lucky enough to have tickets to see them play live at Williams Arena or TCF Bank Stadium.
Located back in the Cedar Riverside Community are many other attractions, some of which are part of the University itself, such as the Ted Mann Concert Hall. This venue is used for a wide number of events including seminars, symphonies, shows, and for large gatherings such as weddings.
The area is also home to unique dining options, such as the Hard Times Cafe, that take advantage of the large college crowd in the area. There are many themed shops here as well.
