Linden Hills Neighborhood

If you want the beauty of the outdoors combined with the convenience of city living, Linden Hills is the neighborhood for you. Centered amid more than one dozen parks and adjacent to two of the largest, most popular lakes in Minneapolis, Linden Hills offers plenty of activities for the outdoor enthusiast or fitness fanatic. Whether you take a jog around Lake Harriet or kayak across Lake Calhoun, there is something for everyone near Linden Hills. This community is especially well suited to avid golfers, with Minikahda Club, Meadowbrook Golf Course, Interlachen Country Club, and Edina Country Club all offering golf courses nearby.

With a name inspired by the rolling hills and linden trees in the area, this community consists of Tudor-style homes and large bungalows. Lake Calhoun and 36th Street West create the community’s northern border, and 47th Street West is its southern boundary. Linden Hills is bounded by France Avenue on the west and by Lake Harriet and William Berry Drive on the east. A streetcar system runs through this historic neighborhood.

Located in Hennepin County within the 55410 zip code area, this southwest Minneapolis community is known not only for being a gateway to recreation, but also for its beautiful gardens, including the nearby Rose Gardens and Peace Gardens. The Linden Hills area is so picturesque and pedestrian-friendly that it has inspired a historic walking tour, as well as an antique city trolley tour. Unlike some of the other communities in the area, Linden Hills has several commercial areas within the community, which offer a bakery, coffee shop, BBQ restaurant, natural food store, and children’s book store. Free concerts are offered at the nearby Lake Harriet band shell.

If Linden Hills’ commercial nodes don’t offer what you need, you’re less than ten minutes away from Uptown, which offers plenty of fine dining, shopping, and nightlife options for Minneapolis residents.

Schools in the area include Lake Harriet Elementary School at 4030 Chowen Avenue South.
