Sheridan Neighborhood
Sheridan is a neighborhood in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The neighborhood is part of the 55413 zip code and located south of 17th Avenue, north of Broadway Street, west of Washington Street, and east of the Mississippi River.
Homes in Sheridan are wonderfully historic, with a large chunk of the structures built prior to 1940, which provides a great insight into the beginnings of the region. These older homes are a major draw to the region and many of them are well preserved. Sheridan does, however, have a number of more modern homes, as well as multiple family dwellings that make the area more accessible to a wider number of residents.
Recreation is a major part of living in Sheridan, with numerous parks and recreational opportunities within a short distance of the neighborhood. One of the best in the area is Boom Island Park to the south. This park is located along the Mississippi River, providing some excellent views, along with several amenities. The park itself has a large playground, a nice river viewing platform, as well as an open area for many different activities. Many also come to the park for the river charters on the Minneapolis Queen.
For shopping and dining, a close destination is near the intersection of Stinson Boulevard and County Road 88. This is where several major retailers can be found, including Target, The Home Deport, and Office Max. The area also has a Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and Burger King.
Next to this small shopping area, there is also a popular trail, the Minneapolis Diagonal Trail, which provides miles of exercise for walkers, runners, skaters, and cyclists in the area. The trail passes by several parks and other interesting areas in Minneapolis.
