Webber-Camden Neighborhood
The northwest Minneapolis community of Webber-Camden is a mix of residential and industrial areas. Homes in the area can be considered middle-class and working-class. Originally named just "Camden," after the city in New Jersey, "Webber" was added in 1995, which comes from nearby Webber Parkway and Webber Park. Now known officially as Webber-Camden, this community is the largest of seven Camden neighborhoods.
Webber-Camden is bordered by Webber Parkway on the north and Dowling Avenue on the south. Newton and Penn Avenues create the community's western border, and I-94 borders the neighborhood on the east. Webber-Camden is located within Hennepin County, in the 55412 zip code area.
Residents send their young ones to elementary schools in neighboring communities, including Loring Elementary School at 2600 44th Avenue North. Patrick Henry High School is conveniently located within the boundaries of Webber-Camden, at 4320 North Newton Avenue. Porter Field is also located within the neighborhood boundaries.
Crystal Lake Cemetery takes up more than a fourth of the community's square footage in the southwest corner. To the south of the cemetery, just outside the neighborhood bounds, is Folwell Park, one of the largest parks in northern Minneapolis. This park offers football and soccer fields, baseball diamonds, basketball and tennis courts, and picnic areas. A wading pool and playground are also on site for younger children.
Webber-Camden is a great community for dog owners, with a new dog park located nearby at 47th Avenue and Sheridan Avenue North. Additionally, a pet hospital is conveniently situated on the neighborhood's northern boundary. The wooded paths of Folwell Park are also considered dog friendly.
You won't find a great many businesses within the boundaries of Webber-Camden, but its location along I-94 means that residents have easy access to all that the city and surrounding areas have to offer.
