Newport, MN Apartments for Rent

Newport, Minnesota is a small, peaceful city located along the Mississippi River. Incorporated in 1889, this friendly community offers a rural landscape dotted with mature trees and open spaces. When you rent an apartment in Newport, it will be easy to forget that you are just 17 miles southeast of Minneapolis and 8 miles southeast of St. Paul.

The oldest of Newport’s six parks is Pioneer Park. It was set aside in the 1930s to preserve the site of the original village. Every August, the park hosts Pioneer Day, a large festival celebrating the city’s history.

Even though Newport has that small-town feel, commuters appreciate its convenient location, just off Highway 61 and near I-494. Washington County recently purchased 11 acres in Newport that will eventually become a train station on the Red Rock Commuter Rail Line, which will further boost the local economy.

If you are renting an apartment in the Twin Cities area, consider the peaceful city of Newport.
