Snelling Hamline Neighborhood
The Snelling Hamline neighborhood is located in the city of Saint Paul, Minn. Snelling Hamline is displaced from most of the businesses in the city, making it a quiet, suburban neighborhood. There are some businesses nearby that benefit the neighborhood greatly, however. The neighborhood is also right next to Concordia University.
Snelling Hamline is in a great location for convenient shopping. Many big-name stores are right outside of the neighborhood along St. Anthony Avenue, making it easy for residents to walk or drive to them. Wal-Mart is the choice grocery shopping destination for the residents of the neighborhood, as it offers a wide variety of groceries while maintaining competitive prices. Wal-Mart also offers other products spanning many different departments. Target is similar to Wal-Mart but does not offer as much for grocery needs. Office Max is a big-name office supply store that is perfect for more than just the office — it is a great place for school supply shopping as it offers a huge selection of school needs. There is also a Borders, which is a great multimedia store that has plenty of books, CDs, and DVDs.
Dining options are plentiful along St. Anthony Avenue. Most of the dining options consist of fast food and local foreign restaurants. Just a few of the restaurants in the area include Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant, Peking Garden, and Hoa Bien Vietnamese. Hardee’s, Jimmy John’s, and McDonald’s are just some of the many different fast food places in the area.
Being close to Concordia University makes the neighborhood great for students that want to live off campus. It is also good for those that are interested in taking a few extra classes for leisure or for a degree.
