Lincoln Park Neighborhood
Lincoln Park. No, we’re not talking about the band – we’re talking about the neighborhood in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Technically, the Lincoln Park neighborhood is part of Maplewood, MN, and is not to be confused with the actual park of the same name that is located some miles to the west. Lincoln Park is a small, primarily residential neighborhood; neighboring communities include Roosevelt – Phalen Center, Eastern Hazel Park, Southern Hayden Heights, Prosperity Heights, and Western Hazel Park. The zip code for Lincoln Park is 55119, and it is situated in Ramsey County.
One of the most significant features of the Lincoln Park neighborhood is its close proximity to Beaver Lake and Beaver Lake Park. Outdoorsy types will love this 11-foot-deep lake, which offers ample amounts of bluegill, largemouth bass, channel catfish, yellow perk, and northern pike, among other species. There is also a walking path around the lake, and the fishing pier is wheelchair accessible. A dozen or so other small parks surround the Lincoln Park area, including the Maplewood Nature Center.
Just to the north of Lincoln Park are two area golf clubs/courses. Avid golfers can choose between Hillcrest Golf Club (a private course) and Goodrich Golf Course (a public course). The latter is a challenging par-70, 18-hole course that is well kept. Stop by for an after-lunch round in the early afternoon if you enjoy a fairly non-crowded course. Two additional golf courses are located within a few miles to the northwest of Lincoln Park – Keller Golf Course and Phalen Park Golf Course (which borders scenic Lake Phalen). Clearly, golf fanatics couldn’t find a much better place to live than the Lincoln Park area.
