18th and Vine and Downtown East is a Kansas City, Missouri neighborhood. Boundaries of 18th and Vine and Downtown East are Interstate 70 to the north and to the east, East 18th Street to the south, and The Paseo to the west.

This neighborhood offers an eclectic mix of residential and business, history, and community services, in a not overly crowded environment.

One of the businesses here is Belfonte, a family business that has produced ice cream and dairy products in Kansas City for more than 35 years. Examples of the spirit of community and of giving back to it here are seen through their “Scoops” program, and their “Dream Factory” program. These programs help teachers to acquire educational supplies, and help children with chronic illness see their dreams come true.

The Gregg/Klice Community Center is also located in 18th and Vine and Downtown East. Family programs, adult programs, and youth programs involve the community and improve skills and lifestyles through this center. Youth boxing, aerobics, and aquatic programs are just a few of the many offerings here.

Those with a love of sports will enjoy the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, located on 18th and Vine. Thousands of photographs and artifacts, dating from the late 1800s and into the 1960s, offer this history. With over $2 million in designing its 10,000 feet of space, this museum is a hit with locals and visitors alike.

Sharing the museum complex with the NLBM is the American Jazz Museum. Kansas City has its own place in the heart of Jazz history, and 18th and Vine was in the center of it. Thus, this neighborhood is a befitting location for this museum as well. Historic and contemporary artists are blended through this medium, for an exciting mix.
