Families tend to be a bit older here as well, with a higher population of young to older teenagers than elsewhere in Kansas City.

Bannister Acres is known for being heavily residential with many open fields and undeveloped forests. The area is peaceful, but many of the major destinations require a bit of driving. Fortunately, Bannister Acres is located along Interstate 470 to the south, with Interstate 435 and US Highway 71 less than a mile to the west. Longview Lake County Park, about a mile to the south, is one of the best places for recreation in the area. This park is home to Longview Lake, which is a large lake in the area. The park has a marina, golf course, and numerous picnic areas. Many recreational boaters as well as anglers take to the lake on a daily basis for a day of adventure and fun.
