Brookside Park Neighborhood
Brookside Park is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Mo. It is located along Brookside Boulevard to the north of 63rd Street. Brookside is home to modern homes with character. The homes are a little bit older but well maintained. The age of the neighborhood is seen in the numerous beautiful trees that line the streets and fill the yards of the homes here. With the tree cover comes a great deal of urban wildlife. Squirrels and birds roam freely through Brookside to the delight of bird lovers.
Since Brookside is also deep within a residential pocket of Kansas City, it has lightly traveled streets. These roads make it possible for residents to take advantage of the pavement without the fear of being hit by speeding cars. On warmer days, walkers, runners, skaters, and cyclists can be seen using the miles of lightly traveled pavement to add distance to their workouts. Children also play basketball and toss footballs around along the slower roads.
For greater recreation, many head to the west about a mile to either Mission Hills Country Club or Kansas City Country Club. The clubs are located one on top of the other, providing excellent variety to a golfer’s game without additional drive time. The courses are well maintained, with clubhouses that are able to support the activities of the golfers. For tennis players, the Kansas City Country Club has the better tennis offerings with considerably more courts than Mission Hills. These courts are often used for training sessions, league play, and tournaments. The clubs also have other offerings, including fitness centers.
Another major draw to the area is the University of Missouri – Kansas City. This large college campus provides a wide range of education, covering many different specialties. The school also has numerous cultural offerings available to the public.
