Crestview Neighborhood
With easy access to I-29, the quiet neighborhood of Crestview is peaceful and yet convenient. Nice older homes along shady streets, nearby parks, and neighborhood retail and commercial locations offer plenty of activity close by. Just to the northeast of the area is heavily wooded Northgate Park, while Crestview Park is almost at the center of this neighborhood of gentle hills.
North Oak Trafficway, the west boundary of Crestview, is where most retail, commercial, and recreational sites are located. A large Price Chopper grocery store, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, and Big Lots are close by, along with several family restaurants. Just northeast are a YMCA and Gold’s Gym. Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary is less than a mile away.
Not far from the Crestview area are several large malls, including Metro North mall and Antioch Shopping Center. There is a Macy’s Department Store at Prairie Village. An exciting new district, Zona Rosa, is also a bit north.
As with most of the Kansas City area, there are lots of golf courses. Courses nearest Crestview include Hodge Park and Excelsior Springs. Claycrest is on the campus of William Jewell College, a short drive east of Crestview.
The area offers great recreational sites, as well. Smithville Lake has it all — boating, fishing, golfing, hiking, hunting, trapshooting, camping, and a waterfowl preserve. North Kansas City Community Center provides a great facility for year-round activity.
South of Crestview, the River Mark, Steamboat Arabia, Crown Center, and the Plaza are all popular destinations. Several casinos along the river offer lively entertainment, and the two stadiums for Kansas City’s two professional teams are an easy drive away.
The area has plenty of historical sites, too. Jesse James Farm and Museum, Liberty Jail Historical Site, and Jesse James Bank retell the area’s colorful past.
