Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and North Stadium Drive run roughly north/south in the area, and East 35th Street/Terrace and Leeds Road/Trafficway run west to east. Just a few minutes to the east of Dunbar a few major area roadways converge, including Interstate 435 and Interstate 70. The zip code for this Jackson County community is 64128.

Dunbar isn’t just convenient to major roadways; there are several other perks to living in this area. The Kansas City VA Medical Center is located in the immediate area, along East 35th Street. You’ll also find the Linwood Family YMCA and several schools within minutes of Dunbar; among these are DeLano Alternative School and Central High School, both situated on Cleveland Avenue.

Dunbar residents also enjoy close proximity to several area parks. Smaller neighborhood parks near Dunbar include Central Park and Seven Oaks Park. Two mid-sized parks are located with two miles to the south – Brush Creek Park and Eastwood Park. Among the amenities at the latter are equestrian trails, hiking and biking trails, freshwater fishing, camping, and backpacking – just about everything that an outdoor enthusiast could want. Near the parks is also where you’ll find the University of Missouri at Kansas City, which makes Dunbar a convenient neighborhood for aspiring college students.

Sports fans enjoy the close proximity to Arrowhead Stadium, situated nearby at One Arrowhead Drive. This area stadium is home to the Kansas City Chiefs, but it also draws in big-name performers like Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift. Dunbar residents are close enough to Arrowhead to make season tickets sound all too tempting.
