Apartments for Rent in Hillcrest
Kansas City at a Glance
Hillcrest Neighborhood
Hillcrest is a part of Jackson, Missouri that is known for offering country living in the city. Green spaces and trees dominate most of the neighborhood. Several newer apartments line the east side of the neighborhood, while houses were generally built between the 1950s and 1960s. Homes here sit on large lots, affording residents fewer neighbors than they would find in the most of the Greater Kansas Area.
Hillcrest’s boundaries are Blue River Road to the northwest, Oldham Road to the northeast, Interstate 435 to the southeast, and Highway 71 to the southwest. Hillcrest may be farther out than most neighborhoods, but the easy access to the highway makes most of the surrounding area accessible in minutes.
Both public courses and private golf course can be found within a few minutes drive of Hillcrest. Hillcrest Country Club, at 8200 Hillcrest Road, is either a long walk or a short drive for most residents. A few minutes north is Swope Golf Course, providing resident with public golfing access.
Many public parks and sports fields are near Hillcrest, including one of the best parks in Kansas City: Swope Park. Swope is almost 1800 acres, much of it undeveloped, and offers just about everything you could imagine. The Kansas City Zoo, Lakeside Nature Center, Starlight Outdoor Theatre, Kansas City Wizards training facility, a camp, community gardens, the Swope Pool, and several sports fields can all be found on park grounds.
Not far from Hillcrest is Arrowhead Stadium, where the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs play all their home games. Just across the parking lot is the home of Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals. Beginning in 2011, Major League Soccer’s Kansas City Wizards will be playing in a new stadium during the team’s quest for the cup.
