Jefferson Highlands Neighborhood

In the northern part of Kansas City, the Jefferson Highlands neighborhood has the allure of city life, yet is close to more rural areas. Bound by Highway 169, North West Barry Road, and North Troost Avenue, it is convenient to shopping and entertainment areas, a great new golf club, a community college, and recreation areas.

Homes in Jefferson Highlands reflect a variety of styles, from single-story, smaller homes to decidedly upscale areas. Carefully maintained yards and beautiful landscaping create a park-like feel.

Just a few blocks away, is one of Kansas City’s newest and most desirable shopping areas – Zona Rosa. The open plan mall covers several blocks, with beautiful new stores and great restaurants. Some of America’s leading retailers can be found here. Also nearby – Target and Wal-Mart stores.

The Jefferson Highlands neighborhood is very conveniently located for year-round recreational opportunities. Tiffany Greens offers affordable golf club membership and Tiffany Springs Park features a new aquatic park and eight miles of off-road trail.

Gladstone Community Center also has aquatic and fitness facilities and is just south of the neighborhood. There are a number of other parks in the area as well.

For real outdoor recreation, the Platte Falls Conservation Area is a great place for hunting, fishing, canoeing, archery, and more.

The Jefferson Highlands area is also one of the most convenient for flying in and out of Kansas City International airport. It is a short drive down I-435 to the west to the Kansas Speedway and the retail area surrounding it, known as Legends Shopping Mall. There is also a Schlitterbahn waterpark here.

The nearby towns of Parkville and Weston are popular historic towns with great shopping and festivals. The annual Irish Fest in Weston is especially popular.
