The Coves Neighborhood

A premier neighborhood, the Coves was one of the first planned communities north of the Missouri River. Begun in 1969, it holds single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments in a setting of curving streets, wide lawns, placid lakes, and spreading shade trees. Mature landscaping and perfectly maintained streets and sidewalks set off upscale homes built in a variety of new traditional styles.

The Coves development is located about 12 miles north of Kansas City via Interstate 29, and within 10 minutes of the airport. Its winding streets are south of Highway 152, east of I-29, and west of North Green Hills Road. The zip code for the Coves is 64151.

Children from the Coves attend schools in the highly rated Parkhill School district. Elementary schools in the area include Chinn Elementary and Line Creek Elementary. Congress is the middle school for the area, and Park Hill High is the high school.

Besides the recreational lakes within the development, the Coves enclave also contains a clubhouse where residents can host large gatherings. The clubhouse is adjacent to the sizable swimming pool where the community swim team practices for league matches with teams from other communities north of the river. Other neighborhood amenities include tennis courts, a children’s playground, and a lakefront picnic area.

A variety of shopping and services are available at the Edgewood Mall just west of the neighborhood. St. Luke’s Northland Hospital and associated medical offices are in the same area. Among the many parks in the area is Amity Woods Nature Park, an unspoiled 48-acre area of woodlands and tallgrass prairie.

With all this neighborhood has to offer, the Coves is definitely a prime location in the Kansas City Northlands.
