Hanley Hills Neighborhood

The expansive urban county that is St. Louis County is populated by more than one million residents, who live in one of the county’s 91 municipalities. One of these is the village of Hanley Hills, situated a little less than eight miles northwest of central Saint Louis.

The village of Hanley Hills is bounded by Midland Boulevard and North Hanley Road on the west and Page Avenue and Monroe Drive on the south. Its northern boundary is less conspicuous, but extends roughly to Ellerton Avenue, Bloom Drive and Taber Drive. On the northeast, the community extends to Haywood Drive. As of July 2009, roughly 2,025 residents called Hanley Hills home. The zip code here is 63133.

Hanley Hills is primarily a residential area, made up of single-family homes on well-shaded lots. Washington Elementary School is just outside of community bounds on the south, along North Hanley Road, easily within walking distance for the village’s school children. The northern and eastern portions of the neighborhood are bounded by large cemeteries, which provide a serene, quiet atmosphere.

Several attractions can be found within a few miles north of Hanley Hills. Among these is the University of Missouri – St. Louis campus, which is not only the most attended institution in the city, but the third largest in the state as well. Flanking the southern portion of the campus on either side are the Normandie Golf Club and the Glen Echo Country Club. More affluent residents of Hanley Hills may belong to one of these prestigious private clubs. Glen Echo was founded in 1901 and offers an historic 18-hole course, as well as tennis courts, an aquatic park and several dining options.

For local shopping, residents of Hanley Hills are within a few miles east of Overland Crossing, which is situated west of the expressway.
