Lakeshire Neighborhood

The Lakeshire Neighborhood of St. Louis, Missouri is in the 63123 zip code area of St. Louis County. The neighborhood has two distinct sections. The airy northern section of home owners is a meandering layout of homes spread between the trees of the forest. The crisp, cozy collection of apartment houses to the south has the regal appearance of a park lane.

The neighborhood boundaries officially start with Lenor Drive on the north. Tesson Ferry Road is the main thoroughfare and serves as the eastern line, while Meadows Drive borders the southwest.

Urban renewal has helped St. Louis transform from a static hub of makeshift commercial properties to a haven for popular shopping centers like the Yorkshire Village. This outdoor mall has 32 stores, including national chains such as Great Clips, Papa John’s Pizza, and Missouri’s largest tire dealer, Dobbs Tire, just to the north of Lakeshire.

The Afton Community Center and Cooling Station is a St. Louis County outreach center, built to assist public recreation and beat the heat, is east of the neighborhood. The Clydesdale County Park to the south has scenic bike trails, and to the west is the Sunset Country Club with a 6640 yard, par 72 golf course.

The neat, green Lakeshire Neighborhood streets have a park-like appeal, although there are no sidewalks in the neighborhood, and only a few bike lanes outside of recreation areas. The brick, multi-family rental homes have service roads along the back, which lead to the hideaway garages behind and underneath the structures.

The St. Louis metro provides public transportation along Tesson Ferry Road.
