St Louis Hills Neighborhood

St. Louis Hills is a moderately sized neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. It has an area of 2.027 square miles and a population of almost 8,000. It is bordered by Watson Road, Chippewa Street, Hampton Avenue, and Des Peres Parkway.

About half the homes in the neighborhood are single-family, detached units. About a quarter are three- to four-unit structures. Over 10 percent of residential units are made up of apartment or condo buildings, while a little under 10 percent are two-unit structures.

St. Louis Hills has tree-lined streets and plentiful greenery, with several popular parks nearby. The 60.30-acre Francis Park is just to the north, within easy walking distance of anywhere in the community. It has a circumference of 1.25 miles, and offers a roller hockey rink, two handball courts, two softball fields, eight tennis courts, a soccer field, playground, and two comfort stations. The 30-acre Tilles Park is also nearby. It offers a baseball field, a roller-hockey rink, softball and soccer fields, and three well-lit tennis courts.

Several cultural attractions are nearby. The Miniature Museum of the Greater St. Louis Area is about two miles east. The Missouri Botanical Garden, known for its series of jazz concerts in June, is three miles northeast. The St. Louis Art Museum is four miles north.

The community serves as an ideal backdrop for many dog lovers. In addition to the sidewalk-lined streets with plentiful trees and greenery, most houses have lawns or fenced-in yards, and apartment buildings have greenery and courtyards. Wilmore Park, which features a dog run, is a little over a half-mile south of the neighborhood.
