Northwest Springfield is a small, moderately populated community in the 65803 zip code of Springfield, Missouri. It’s bordered to the north by West Kearney Street and to the south by Division Street. North Kansas Expressway 13 serves as its eastern border, and Northwest Bypass/Highway 160 serves as its western border.
Tom Watkins Park is located within the neighborhood. It’s a 20-acre park that offers two tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, open parkland, a playground, and picnic tables. Nichols Park is a mile and a half southeast of the community, and it has a well-lit baseball field, two tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground, open parkland, a soccer field, picnic tables, and public rest facilities.
The Dickerson Park Zoo is about two miles northeast of the center of Northwest Springfield. In addition to a wide variety of animals, it has beautifully landscaped grounds, a playground, and a separate petting zoo.
Although it’s a primarily residential community, several stores and shopping centers are near Northwest Springfield. The Plaza Shopping Center is a mile and a half to its northeast, while the Westport Shopping Center is a mile and a half to its south. A Wal-Mart Supercenter is a mile and a half to its northeast. Mike’s Unique Flea Market & Antiques, which is noted for its consistently high quality inventory, is three and a half miles south of the neighborhood.
Several restaurants are also nearby. The Kearney Street Cafe Papa John’s Pizza are located at the northern border of the community. Wendy’s and Quiznos are less than a mile to its northwest. McAlister’s Deli is a mile to its southeast, while Pizza Inn is a mile and a half to its northeast. Dan’s Place, IHOP, Dairy Queen, and Papa Murphy’s are within a one-mile radius.
