Rountree Area Neighborhood

The Rountree neighborhood is located near downtown Springfield, Missouri. It is a fantastic location for anyone seeking a college education. The neighborhood shares its western border with Missouri State University. College students will find two other universities, Evangel University and Drury University, within a few blocks.

Another educational facility, Rountree Elementary, is the cornerstone of the community. It has the distinction of being an International Baccalaureate Primary Year program. The school also offers a unique mixture of after-school activities.

Mature trees fill the yards. The neighborhood is composed of over 1000 households with a neighborhood mixture of college students and long-time residents.

Residents are close to Hammon field, home of the Springfield Cardinals, a professional baseball team. Entertainment via the performing arts can be found at the Springfield Little Theater and at the Juanita K. Hammons Theater at MSU. The Rountree neighborhood is also home to the Rountree Library.

Excellent health care is a part of the Rountree neighborhood. St. John’s Regional Health Center is well-established in the area and takes care of medical needs from child birth to surgery.

Being in the downtown area, Rountree residents are near shopping and commercial areas. The downtown airport is also only a few blocks northeast of the neighborhood.

The Rountree Neighborhood Rain Garden Project was developed to take care of a run-off problem. The five gardens beautify the areas they occupy while solving another problem. Rountree is one of only three neighborhoods that are currently considered Urban Conservation Districts, allowing them to identify and solve problems within their own neighborhood. The Rountree Neighborhood Association established a neighborhood watch program to help control any problems in the area.
