Woodland Heights Neighborhood

Woodland Heights is a rather small, densely populated Springfield community in the 65803 zip code. With an area of 1.763 square miles, it contains approximately 6,500 residents.

West Kearney Street is the northern border of the neighborhood, and East Commercial Street is its southern boundary. North Kansas Expressway serves as its western border, while North Glenstone Avenue is the eastern boundary of the neighborhood.

Grant Beach Park is a half-mile south of Woodland Heights. This 15-acre park has a swimming pool, basketball court, baseball field, playground, tennis courts, and picnic tables. Lafayette Park, which has a playground and picnic facilities, is a half-mile east of the community.

Woodland Heights is also a very popular neighborhood among college students, as it is within easy driving distance of a wide variety of schools. The Baptist Bible College is a mile to its northeast, while Drury College is about a mile to its southeast. Evangel University, noted for its excellent undergraduate programs, is two miles east of the community. Ozarks Technical Community College, the Missouri College of Cosmetology, and Missouri State University are within a three-mile radius.

Cultural attractions also abound nearby. The History Museum of Springfield is a mile and a half southeast of Woodland Heights. The city of Springfield’s Northview Center Doling Museum is a mile to its northeast. The Discovery Center of Springfield is two miles to its south. The Calaboose Museum is one and a half miles to its south. The Air & Military Museum, which attracts visitors from from all over the state and beyond, is three miles to east of the neighborhood.
