Downtown Neighborhood

Las Vegas’ Downtown area is a popular local and tourist destination with its many museum and exhibit spots. It features hundreds of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and other entertainment establishments. It is also a local destination for Las Vegas residents attending court hearings, doing city hall errands, and making other state-related inquiries.

The Downtown is home to dozens of hotels and lodging establishments. It features one of the top Las Vegas attractions called the Fremont Street Experience. It also houses most of the city’s government buildings, including the Las Vegas City Hall, Las Vegas Police Department, Regional Justice Center, Clark County Clerk, Municipal Court and Traffic Court of Las Vegas, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Housing Authority of the City of Las Vegas, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and a Federal Courthouse.

Known as the central business district of Las Vegas, the Downtown is a prime gaming location. It provides people many options from its dozens of hotels, motels, and casinos including the El Cortez Hotel and Casino, Crest Budget Inn Motel, Blue Star Motel, Conrad Hotel, Super 8 Motel, Downtowner Motel, Dragon Hotel, Western Hotel and Casino, Western RV Park, Ferguson’s Motel and Casino, Peter Pan Motel, Town Lodge Motel, Crest Budget Inn Motel, and Travelers Motel.

Tourists and locals alike often visit Downtown attractions and events including those at the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, Neon Museum, and Las Vegas Natural History Museum. Parks located around the area include the Heritage Park, Las Vegas Racetrack and Ball Park, and Old Las Vegas Mormon Fort State Historic Park.

Schools within the Downtown area include the Las Vegas Academy, First Good Shepherd Lutheran School, St. Joseph School, Howard Hollingsworth Elementary School, Biltmore Continuation High School, Halle Hewetson Elementary School, and Exodus Christian Academy. There are a number of churches located within the area as well, like the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Las Vegas Bible Church, St. Bridget’s Catholic Church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and First Good Shepherd Lutheran.
