West Sahara Neighborhood

West Sahara is one of the first master-planned communities in Las Vegas. Its borders stretch from Durango to Fort Apache, and from West Sahara Avenue to West Desert Inn Road. The neighborhood’s West Sahara Community Association maintains all common areas in West Sahara. It also helps preserve and further develop the community.

The residential areas in West Sahara feature many meandering sidewalks for pedestrians and more than 1,500 trees carefully lined up in beautiful belt areas. A number of walking trail parks are also available for brisk walking, jogging, and using exercise equipment. There is a nearby man-made lake to provide residents with a refreshing place to sit back, relax, or have a picnic.

West Sahara houses non-Strip Las Vegas hotels and lodges like the Palace Station Hotel and Casino, Courtyard Hotel Rooms, and La Quinta Inns and Suites. These hotels provide more localized options for those seeking refuge outside the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip, yet are only about 10 miles away from this tourist stretch.

Favorite restaurants around West Sahara include Mad Matty’s Bar and Grille, Feast Buffet, the Broiler, Pasta Palace, Food Express Chinese Restaurant, Hash House A Go Go, and Cabo Mexican Restaurant. Popular bars and pubs in the area include Big Dog’s, Chicago Brewing Company, and Red Room.

West Sahara is home to the Las Vegas medical facilities Kindred Hospital Las Vegas, Action Medical Center, and Vision Source. It also hosts the Sahara West Library, where residents can take advantage of facilities like a computer center, a 150-seat multi-purpose room, a 45-seat boardroom, a 35-seat meeting room, a story-time room, a gallery, and a used bookstore.

West Sahara’s main thoroughfares are known for a number of car dealers like Desert Toyota, Cadillac of Las Vegas, CarMax West Sahara, and Honda West.
