Deerhurst Park Neighborhood

Deerhurst Park is a subdivision in the town of Tonawanda, a suburb of Buffalo, New York. Deerhurst Park was first developed in the 1920s and contains many architectural gems from the 20s and the 30s. Wide tree-lined streets and well-kept homes and lawns give this upscale neighborhood a peaceful, dignified atmosphere.

Deerhurst Park is bounded by Highland Parkway and Englewood Avenue on the north, Irving Terrace on the east, Deerhurst Park Boulevard on the south, and Delaware Road on the west. Its zip code is 14217.

The Town of Tonawanda offers many public recreational facilities, including several swimming pools, two golf courses, a driving range, ice skating rinks, batting cages, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Boaters will enjoy riding on the Niagara River. Many swimming and fitness classes are available.

The area is rich in history, and the Town of Tonawanda has an Historical Society housed in a former church, a beautiful brick building built in 1849.

Activities are available for all ages. The Senior Citizen Recreation Center, for residents 60 and up, has classes, clubs, dances, games, parties, speakers, trips, and many other events. The Kenmore Youth Center has programs for kids ages 4 to 6, and 7 to 12, including late-afternoon programs and monthly trips.

The Ken-Ton Garden Tour is a popular annual event, which allows participants to visit dozens of stunning private gardens.

Niagara Falls is a major attraction in the Buffalo area. Buffalo also has many cultural events and festivals, including the country’s largest two-day food festival, the Taste of Buffalo. Another popular food-related event is the National Buffalo Wing Festival, held every Labor Day, which draws huge crowds of chicken-wing lovers.
