Starin Central Neighborhood

Starin Central is a neighborhood in Buffalo, New York. Starin Central is located on Shoshone Road which is located to the west of Shoshone Park. Tacoma Avenue is the northern border and the southern border is Hertel Avenue.

Starin Central is very walkable and it is easy for pedestrians to get around. Many parks, schools, and shops are located within walking distance. For those who would like to use public transportation, there are several bus lines within a half a mile from Starin Central.

One of the benefits to living in Starin Central is that the schools are all within a mile of the neighborhood. The schools are a mixture of public and private, with Holy Angels Academy being the closest school. Holy Angels is a private, catholic high school. Bennett High School is a public school that is within walking distance from Holy Angels. The Montessori School is a magnet school that serves students in grades K-8.

Several parks and playgrounds are also within walking distance from Starin Central. Shoshone Playground is the closest park, and it contains fields for playing baseball and a basketball court. McCarthy Park is also near Starin Central. It is a 32-acre park that has many nature trails as well as baseball fields and basketball courts.

The Buffalo Zoological Gardens is located close to Starin Central. The zoo contains plants and animals from various ecosystems around the world. According to its Web site, it strives to show visitors how animals interact with each other, as opposed to simply putting them in cages for the amusement of visitors.
