East End – Valley Street Neighborhood

As the neighborhood name might suggest, East End-Valley Street is located on the southeast side of Asheville, North Carolina. It is encompassed by College Street/U.S. Highway 70 on the north and South Charlotte Street and Biltmore Avenue on the west. On the east, it extends roughly to College Street and Windswept Drive, and on the south it extends roughly to White Fawn Drive and Reservoir Road. East End-Valley Street is in the 28801 ZIP code area within Buncombe County.

The East End-Valley Street neighborhood is a mix of residential areas and commercial offerings. The residences here include single-family homes, town home communities, and apartment living. The community as a whole is fairly thick with shade trees, and the eastern half of the community is devoted almost entirely to densely wooded areas.

Residents of this community enjoy easy access to a variety of amenities. The southern portion of the community hosts Memorial Stadium and McCormick Field, the latter of which is home to the Asheville Tourists Minor League Baseball team.

Just outside the neighborhood boundaries on the south are two of the city’s most prominent health care options — Mission Hospital-St. Joseph Campus and the Mission Hospital-Memorial Campus. Also in this area is one of the city’s higher education options, the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College.

Nestled near the heart of the downtown area, East End-Valley Street is within walking distance of some of the city’s most popular nightlife destinations, including top notch restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. Cultural attractions like the Fine Arts Theater, Asheville Art Museum, and Asheville Civic Center are also within walking distance of this conveniently located neighborhood.
