South French Broad Neighborhood

The South French Broad neighborhood, located in zip code 28801, is bordered by Hilliard Avenue to the north, Asheland Avenue to the east, Phifer Street to the south and South French Broad Avenue to the west with easy access to Interstate 240.

To the west of the neighborhood is Westgate Regional Shopping Center. The strip mall is conveniently located along Interstate 240 and features a variety of retail stores and businesses.

For major shopping trips, Asheville Mall, anchored by Dillard’s, Sears, JC Penney, and Belk, provides over 100 specialty stores, food court, restaurants, and consumer businesses.

For medical situations, South French Broad residents have quick access to Mission Hospital St. Joseph Campus and Mission Hospital Memorial Campus.

Current students or those anticipating enrolling in school have the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College to the south of the neighborhood and to the north is the University of North Carolina Asheville campus.

One of Asheville’s main attractions, the Biltmore Estate, is less than a 10-minute drive from the South French Broad Community. At the 8000-acre Vanderbilt estate, visitor’s can stroll the gardens, visit the winery, dine, and take a guided tour of this 1895 National Historic Landmark still owned and operated by the family.
