Lakewood Neighborhood

The lovely neighborhood of Lakewood is situated in the northwest sector of Charlotte. The residential community is comprised of a mix of older brick homes and newer homes. Many of the streets in Lakewood are lined with sidewalks. Simple porches grace many of the homes and impeccable landscaping and floral gardens beautify the properties.

Residents of Lakewood enjoy peaceful urban life close to Charlotte’s downtown business and shopping districts. The neighborhood sits approximately three miles west of Downtown and is encompassed by the 28208 zip code. Lakewood is bordered on the north end by I-85 and on the east side by state route 16, which travels south into Downtown Charlotte. Charlotte Area Transit System bus stops populate Rozzelles Ferry Road on the east side of Lakewood.

Charlotte’s beauty is visible through the city and surrounding county park and greenway systems. Lakewood boasts its own neighborhood park, complete with basketball court, ball field, walking trails and playground. A Mecklenburg County park, Enderly Park sits less than a mile south of Lakewood. The 10 acre park features basketball and tennis courts, a picnic shelter, two playgrounds and a softball field.

The impressive sights and sounds of downtown Charlotte are minutes from residents of Lakewood. Many travel here for work and play. The EpiCentre sits amidst downtown high-rise buildings and is a favorite local nightlife and dining spot. From country to upscale clubs and dining choices just as diverse, there is something for everyone at The EpiCentre. Family entertainment at The EpiCentre includes a bowling alley and movie theater. Northlake Mall, Lakewood’s nearest big box mall, is also located in downtown Charlotte.
