First Ward Neighborhood
The First Ward neighborhood is part of the wards of the downtown area of Charlotte, North Carolina. It is a strictly urban area that has recently undergone a revitalization that has turned it into one of the more desirable wards in the city.
There are plenty of opportunities for entertainment within and around the First Ward. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is located within the First Ward. This is the main library for library system in the area. The Charlotte library system has over 1.5 million pieces of mixed media.
Other attractions in the area revolve around the history of the area. The Levine Museum of the New South hosts exhibits revolving around the South’s history after the Civil War. There are also numerous historical tours that can be taken that reveal the history of the city and the surrounding areas.
One of the best parts about living in the First Ward is the closeness of two different places where Charlotte professional sports play. The Panthers play football at Bank of America stadium and the Bobcats play basketball at Time Warner Cable Arena.
Various shopping and dining choices are available throughout the downtown area. Both casual and fine dining line the streets in the city, as do some small shops. The best place for an all in one entertainment, shopping, and dining experience is EpiCentre. EpiCentre features many different shops, restaurants and chances for entertainment. EpiCentre contains fun for families and bars and clubs for adults. Another place for a great shopping experience is Founders Hall. Founders hall features numerous shops and dining facilities for shoppers. Two nearby parks provide the residents of the First Ward with places to take a break from the city and picnic or take a nice walk.
