Westchester Neighborhood

Westchester is a large neighborhood in the northwest sector of Charlotte, inside the 28208 zip code. Downtown Charlotte is a short five mile drive on State Route 27, which borders the west side of the neighborhood. Residents of Westchester enjoy closeness to Charlotte and a multitude of restaurants and stores, all without sacrificing peaceful country living.

The residential community enjoys a mix of single family homes and townhomes. Some of the streets in Westchester are lined with sidewalks. Many of Westchester’s residences are newer and the neighborhood is well maintained and features impeccable landscaping. Public transit bus stops populate the north and west borders of the neighborhood.

The neighborhood of Westchester is included in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. Allenbrook Elementary School, Wilson Middle School and Harding University High School are the nearest public schools to Westchester. Students living in the Charlotte suburb of Westchester enjoy close proximity to the following prestigious higher educational institutions: Johnson C. Smith University, Charlotte School of Law and Johnson and Wales.

Travelers will enjoy Westchester’s close proximity to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, located approximately 3 miles southwest of the neighborhood. A point of interest near the airport is the Carolinas Aviation Museum. The museum displays decades of the aviation history that North Carolina is so rich in, through fun interactive displays.

The EpiCentre, located in Downtown Charlotte, is a favorite spot for dining, shopping, nightlife and family entertainment. Clubs and restaurants at EpiCentre and the surrounding district are diverse, giving visitors a variety of establishments, including a movie theater and a bowling alley, to choose from.
