Pickett Crossing Neighborhood

The neighborhood of Pickett Crossing is located to the southwest of downtown Durham, North Carolina. Pickett Crossing is accessed via Cambridge Road and is basically shaped like a multi-pronged fork with each branch ending in a cul-de-sac. The homes are fairly large one- and two-story affairs and are set fairly close to the road.

Schools nearby the Pickett Crossing community include Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill, Durham Academy Upper School, and Forest View Elementary School.

The popular Bullock’s Bar-B-Cue restaurant is a family-owned enterprise and has been in business since 1952. Besides their regular customers, they provide catering services for major area sports teams and for the network TV crews when they’re in town to cover sports events.

Major area sports teams in the Raleigh-Durham area include the NHL Carolina Hurricanes (Raleigh), The NCAA’s North Carolina State Wolfpack basketball and football (Raleigh) and the NCAA’s Duke University Blue Devils basketball and football (Durham). Also in Durham is the AAA affiliate for the Tampa Bay Rays – The Durham Bulls.

In 2010, Golfweek Magazine named the Duke University Golf Club among the top-10 public golf courses in North Carolina.

The 17-room, boutique-style King’s Daughters Inn, a bed and breakfast establishment, overlooks the oak trees on Duke University’s Eastern Campus. In Trinity Park, it is in one of the most walkable urban areas in Durham. Each guestroom has a unique style and flavor – from Classic to Art-Deco.

The Durham Performing Arts Center, also known as DPAC plays host to Broadway shows, comedy, dance performances and live concerts throughout the year.
