River Wind Neighborhood

River Wind is a neighborhood in Gastonia, North Carolina in the 28954 zip code. It is an apartment complex off of East Hudson Boulevard on the east and Union Road on the west. There are some sidewalks and a heavy concentration of pine trees. The apartments are within easy reach of both the I-85 and the I-485. River Wind is located southeast of downtown Gastonia.

Gastonia Municipal Golf Course is a public golf course that offers 18 holes of golf as well as a snack bar, pro shop, and practice facility. It is less than half a mile from the neighborhood.

Robinwood Lake is the place to go in the summer to swim or fish. It is also a popular picnic destination. This lake is known for the size of the bigmouth bass that are pulled from the water. The lake is open to the public and there is also a swim club. It is located just a short ride away from River Wind.

The Avon/Catawba Creek Greenway runs just to the north of the apartment complex. The greenway offers over two and a half miles of ten-foot wide, multi-use paved trail. It is a popular destination to walk, jog, bike, or in-line skate. It begins at Lineberger Park and ends at the Southeast Center on Robinwood Road.

Martha Rivers Park is an easy ride south on Neal Hawkins Road. It offers a great playground as well as a youth sports complex that provides a place for local youth to play baseball and soccer. The park has walking trails and plenty of open space for residents to enjoy.

From River Wind the nearest grocery stores are the Harris Teeter on Neal Hawkins Road and the Lowes on Hoffman Road. Both are just a couple of miles away.
