Battlefield Neighborhood

In north central North Carolina sits the city of Greensboro. Founded in 1808, Greensboro was named for Revolutionary War general Nathanael Greene. Historical areas mix with family neighborhoods, shopping centers, restaurants, parks, and schools.

The neighborhood of Battlefield lies on the northern edge of the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. Its boundaries include Lake Brandt Road, Old Battleground Road, and Lawndale Drive. Battlefield lies in the 27455 zip code of Guilford County. Neighborhood streets include Cotswold Avenue, Knightbridge Road, Charing Cross Road, Cottage Place, Regents Park Lane, and Kingsland Drive.

Battlefield offers single-family homes that come in either ranch-style or two-story designs. Many homes feature attached garages, although some sport convenient carports instead. These shady lots sit on tree-lined with sidewalks, making neighborhood highly walkable.

Nestled to the south of Battlefield is the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. Near the park’s main entrance is the visitor’s center. Guests can take in museum displays, artifacts from the 1781 Battle of Guilford Courthouse, and examples of period clothing. Within the historic park are 28 monuments and graves. The park holds an annual reenactment of the battle each March.

Greensboro Country Park, at 3902 Nathanael Greene Drive, lies to the south of the Military Park, about three miles from Battlefield. Country Park has playgrounds, two fishing lakes, and eight picnic pavilions. This city park also features the Bark Park Dog Park and seasonal paddleboat rentals. Country Park is known for mountain bike trails like the five mile Copperhead Trail and The Zone.

Six miles from Battlefield is the Starmount Forrest Country Club. Established in 1930, it is home to the only championship golf course in Greensboro. The club sits just west of downtown, and even features four Deco Turf tennis courts.
